Make a difference

When a baby is born prematurely or exhibits at-risk symptoms, the average stay for that child in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) is 5-6 weeks.  Since Tuscaloosa DCH is a regional hospital serving several surrounding counties, many parents of NICU babies have to either drive back and forth, rent a hotel room, or many times sleep in the waiting room or car just to stay near their child. Imagine 5-6 weeks of hotel rooms, driving back and forth, fast food and/or sleeping in a car or waiting room...all while you're concerned for your newborn.

Funeral Fund

One of the issues that we know we will eventually have to deal with is one of our families losing a baby.  We know from experience the cost and heartache that comes along with this situation.  It’s expensive and no one plans when they get pregnant to get a life insurance policy for their unborn baby.  With that said, we want to start a funeral fund to assist the families of the house that lose a child.  This is a huge financial burden and most baby funeral arrangements average in the $10,000 range.
